Drugs 101
An informative and educational program for adults to learn about the signs, symptoms, and current trends of teen drug use. A highlight of this program is a mock teenager’s bedroom set up for adult’s to observe and attempt to identify the obvious and not-so-obvious drug related paraphernalia.
Parents, Grandparents, Coaches, Teachers, Administrators, and others participating gain:
- Facts about trends in teen drug use
- Tools to identify potential drug use
- Skills to engage kinds in conversations
If you’ve found less than 50 drug-related items in this photo, you need to attend this workshop.

Family Fun Tail Gate Event
Join us at Holly High School for the Family Fun Tail Gate Event from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, prior to the home football game. This event will feature fun activities for the whole family, including an inflatable slide and obstacle course. All activities are free, with concessions available for purchase. This is also Elementary School Night at the football game, where elementary age students will be admitted to the football game for free when accompanied by an adult.
Come on out and enjoy some fun family time before cheering our Bronchos on to a winning season!

Drugs 101: What Parents Want to Know
Parents, do you know…
Find out the answers to these questions and more, by attending the “Drugs 101: What Parents Want to Know” program on May 1st at 6:30 in the Karl Richter Campus Auditorium. A highlight of this program is a mock teenager’s bedroom set up for adults to observe and attempt to identify the obvious and not-so-obvious drug related paraphernalia. You will also learn facts about trends in teen alcohol and drug use, tools to identify potential teen alcohol and drug use and skills to engage kids in conversatons. This program is free of charge. This is Your Brain on Drugs…The Science of Addiction
This meeting is designed for youth and parents to learn what drug addiction is, what drug addiction does (its effects on the brain and body), as well as prevention and treatment strategies.
Speakers Include:
- Raj Mehta, adolescent treatment specialist at Brighton Hospital.
- Students who are recovering from drug addiction.
- Kent Barnes will discuss school policy regarding substance use.

Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting for the Holly Area Community Coalition will be held prior to the Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Holly High School in the Kiva at 6:30 p.m.
At this short meeting we will conduct election of officers for the upcoming year.

The next meeting of the Holly Area Community Coalition will be on Monday, February 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Holly Middle School IMC, located at the Karl Richter Campus, 920 Baird Street, Holly. Meetings are open to the public and new members are always welcome.

Town Hall Meeting – Alternatives to Pain Medication
Did you know?
- Over 2.7 million Americans abused prescription painkillers in the past year.
- Painkillers and heroin have the same chemical structure and similar effects on the body.
- There in a product out that is being marketed as “incense” and youth are purchasing it legally and smoking it to get a marijuana-like high.
Join us on Monday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Physiotherapy Associates, located at 1016 N.Saginaw in Holly to learn about these and other facts and trends. Anar Guru, Physical Therapist, will discuss ways of managing chronic pain without medication; Scott Masi, from Brighton Hospital, will discuss Prescription Drug abuse trends and the process of addiction; and Elena Danishevskaya,Village of Holly Police Chief, will discuss current youth trends and what is happening locally.
