Our Mentor Asset class is an opportunity for Holly High School’s Youth Action Board to go to the Elementary schools and teach fifth grade students about building assets in their life. The program is based on the 40 Developmental Asset Model program from Search Institute. Assets are positive people, things or qualities that can help them be caring, responsible, and productive people.
This class is offered to every fifth grade class in the Holly area. The goal of the class is help students understand the dangers of making harmful or unhealthy choices and increase assets to promote positive behaviors and attitudes before they transition to Middle School, where these choices can be harder. Each student receives giveaways and handouts to help them further explore assets.
